Always get a decent photographer.  Have an engagement shoot.  Trust the photographer, they are in control.  Always look for the best lighting.  Make the shot, don't just take the shot.  Think about the Ceremony, those are some of the most important shots.  Use a make up artist.  Look for uses of creativity and fun in lighting, or poses, or props.  Plan for extra time in everything.  The photographer needs to eat too.  Use good posing guides and practice in the mirror to become DIY experts.
